Hi everyone! I never post on here but am highrisk due to a prior pregnancy with earlyonset, severe pree at 30 weeks and delivery at 33 weeks. Turns out they think I have antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. My doctor said he doesn't think I need prophylactic Lovenox, whereas other doctors I have met with immediately after the chaos of my first baby told me they'd recommend it. My doctor seems to be saying that since I'VE never had a clot, he doesn't think the benefits outweigh the risk of bleeding. Instead, he is recommending daily baby aspirin only.
I'm wondering what you ladies who have experience with AAS or with Lovenox think...and what your doctors have said about their decision to put you on Lovenox or not. And, if you've had any complications from it. In case it matters, my levels of IGg have been consistently elevated at 26 or so, where the high normal end of the range is 15. I don't know HOW elevated that is, because I don't have a basis for comparison with other people, so any insight into that would be appreciated.
Essentially, what I'm hoping to hear back from you ladies will help me determine if I should get a second opinion or go back to my nonhigh risk OB...speaking of which, are you Lovenox ladies managed by regular OBs or highrisk docs?
Sorry for all of the questions, but TIA!!
Re: Lovenox?
I would agree that you should get a second opinion. I used Lovenox during both pregnancies due to a history of DVT. The DVT occurred years before my first pregnancy and the doctor I was seeing at that time said that when I decided to become pregnant I wouldn't need to worry about Lovenox because they tested me for all the clotting disorders and everything was negative. When I actually got pregnant it was years later and I had moved across the country and was obviously seeing a different doctor. She put me on Lovenox and I told her about my other doctor's opinion, so she checked with a hematologist for me who also recommended Lovenox.
So that is a long way of saying that I think these clotting disorders are not so well known or understood by all doctors, and they do have different opinions. I would check with another OB or a hematologist for peace of mind. Good luck and congrats!
