DD caught some kind of stomach bug and has been sick and throwing up since yesterday afternoon. She's been a real trooper, but she's quite the limp little noodle today! I guess not really eating for 36 hours will do that to anyone.
Anyway, I'm sure it's just a normal stomach bug, but when do I need to get concerned? She is now keeping down water, but she threw up after I gave her Pedialyte earlier. I'm pretty sure that was just because she guzzled it down too quickly, though. I am not in a rush to give her food because her stomach is barely handling liquids. If your kid has had a stomach virus, at what point have you contacted your pedi? This is our first one. Thanks!
Re: Stomach bug is here :(
DD2 has had more than her fair share of stomach bugs already
. I would bet good money you are right on about her throwing up Pedialyte because she guzzled it down too quickly. If she doesn't throw up when you give her smaller amounts at a time, I say she's on the mend.
As for solids, I usually start with applesauce and rice crackers (Mum Mum), see how that goes. Depending how she does, we usually quickly get her back on regular foods. Kids get better SO fast when they're this young, though, it's amazing. DD2 will spend 12 hours either sleeping or throwing up, then go to bed and wake up the next day and scarf down her breakfast like nothing happened.
I will warn you though - DD2's poopie diapers are the most horrendous right after she goes through an episode. Be ready for poop-splosions, too. Yuck!
Good luck and enjoy the extra cuddles
Winomama - thanks for your insight, she's definitely alert, just not her usual peppy self. Lots more napping and snuggling on the couch than normal. I know what you mean about the doctor's office, we actually have our next well visit on Thursday and I'm scared of the germs! If I hadn't already rescheduled once, I would probably try to move it until after the holidays.
MamaHa - I did give her some plain crackers about an hour ago, along with more Pedialyte, and she has kept both down. Thank God because we're both running out of clean pjs! She's just like your DD, she mostly just sleeps when she is sick. Hoping she is a little better after this nap, now that there is some food in her belly. Thanks for the diaper warning, there have been some vile smells coming from down there, but no actual poop yet...I'm sure it's not going to be pretty!
Oh yeah - Now when DD gets a bug, we just lay a towel in her bed and use receiving blankets to hold her. Saves us from a load of laundry or two as well as from the hassle of getting her (and us) changed a dozen times.
Thanks, S-Tuna. We have fingers crossed that IF we get sick, it's a quick bug, and we're all better by this time next week!
MamaHa - I tried to get her to barf (when I knew it was coming) into a small bowl, but she just ran away, spewing all over the floor
We did switch to a towel while we were all awake, but I didn't even think of laying one down in the bed with her. That would have saved my bedsheets this morning, lol. Great idea, thanks for the tip!!

The kids started with it last week. It has hit 10!!! freaking adults since, including me on my cruise to Bahamas!! and I gave it to one of the girls who came with.
My parents just got it tonight... its brutal but gone in less then 48 hours thankfully.
Nothing like that and rough waters though, poor cleaning people on the ship.
i agree with PP - no wet diapers or acting very strange then i would call. and i also agree about LOs being sick and then waking up the next day like nothing ever happened. glad to hear she's feeling better & keeping some juice down! good luck!
ah now i am paranoid about us getting a stomach bug at christmas. SIL just flew in from CO and she has it. her bf had it over the weekend. DH & I are hosting christmas eve dinner at our house for his family. im slightly nervous now!
