Pregnant after a Loss

breathing question

This is lame....I know.

I'm almost 37 weeks and I know he is engaged quite a bit. In fact, I'm measuring small simply because he is so low. I know he's not high into my lungs. However, today I'm finding myself gasping for breath all of the time. I simply cannot get enough air unless I focus on it. Is that to be expected this far along after "dropping"? wth....

Re: breathing question

  • I felt winded up until I delivered my son so in my experience it is normal.

  • My daughter is engaged as well and my stomach as a whole is sitting much lower but I've still been having a hard time breething here and there. At my growth scan on Monday we found out that she had both feet and one of her hands jammed up under my ribs on the right side so I'm guessing that's what's squishing my lungs especially when she stretches.

Perhaps your lo has some body parts shoved up in your lungs as well? Or it could just be your lungs being squished in general along with all of your other organs that have been displaced by your growing lo.

  • I'm 39 weeks and feel the same (though I am not sure how engaged my LO is) but I know its pretty normal for this far along.

  • I am 2 days shy of 40w and my reflux and breathing have been worse than ever. I am at a +2 station so he is as low as he can get w/o coming out and still he manages to kick me in the stomach and ribs. I think the dropping = feeling better it total BS...
