High-Risk Pregnancy

XP--High BP??

Anyone who's being monitored for PIH (with no other signs of pre-e)? Just curious how you're being monitored/managed?
How far along were you when BP became elevated, how high is your BP, what kind of treatment (bed rest, etc) & labor plan (planned induction, etc) are  you looking at?

Re: XP--High BP??

  • I was monitored for it during my last pregnancy. My BP started creeping up around 36 weeks. At that point, I went to LD for monitoring and blood work. Blood work was abnormal, but BP went down after rest, so I was allowed to go home. 24 hour urine was under the limit. After that, I had biweekly BP monitoring and NSTs. The highest my BP went before 39 weeks was 140/90 and it always went back down. At 39 weeks it went up to 160/100 at times, and since I was 39 weeks, they thought it safest to induce. Since my BP was not consistently elevated, I never went on bed rest or had a plan for delivery other than close watching and waiting.

  • I am 11weeks with my 6th pregnency.  I have had high BP with most of them usually after 24 weeks or so.  At about 17 weeks or so it started shooting up with my current youngest 5 years ago.  This pregnency it is elevetated to begin with.  I am being monitered closely, I have to take it myself 3 times a day and I am going to see a MFM DR.  None of the other ones were so early.  Good luck!!!

  • With my last pregnancy, I developed PIH pregnancy induced hypertension at 35 weeks and then induced at 39 weeks. Therefore, my dr had me take my bp daily at home from the very beginning of this pregnancy. They want to make sure I don't consistently get readings of 140/90. With that said, my bp was a little elevated at my 1st appt. at 6 weeks. Then it went down to below 120/80 during the rest of the 1st trimester, into the beginning of 2nd semester. I'm now approaching my 20 week mark and its slowly creeping up again. I recently did a 24 hr urine catch and bloodwork and so far, no pree. I'm still monitoring my bp. My dr said that once I get consistent readings of 140/90, they'll run tests to ensure its not pree . If its not, then meds would be prescribed. I'll be scheduling a csection because of a previous c section. That's about it as far as labor plans. HTH and good luck!
