Hi ladies,
The only person left to buy a gift for is my mom. I'm a little embarrassed about this because usually her gift is one of the first to be purchased and it is usually something thoughful or really nice, but this year I haven't been able to think of one thing to get her. Last year I got her a Coach purse which she loves and wears every single day (which makes me so happy). But, this year, we are cutting back on gift expense a little so I can't buy something as expensive. I love my mother more than anything and I think she deserves the world for what a wonderful mother she is but it is hard to buy something really nice on a limited budget.
I guess my last resort is to get her a gift card but I really rather not do that. Also, I don't want to get her something baby related because she's already a grandmother to two kids (my DD and my niece) so I rather get her something for herself.
So I thought I'd ask you ladies what you are getting your own mothers so hopefully I can get some ideas
TIA!

I am having the same problem this year. I have NO IDEA what to get for my mom. I don't want to get anything cheesy, or anything related to cleaning or cooking (it's a tradition that my brother gets her a broom every Christmas, but that's different, she expects it now, lol). I hate knick-knacks, they just sit around and get dusty. Gift card seems like a real cop-out, especially since she does watch DD after school every day until I get home from work, so something more thoughtful is definitely in order.
Sorry I'm no help, but I'll be watching this thread now for an inkling of an idea...
a nice sweater?
bath robe, slippers, and a few bath bombs/balls or bubble bath?
any snacks she loves (e.g. chocolate covered pretzels)?
a mani/pedi gift card or "coupon" for a girls day with you?
cute coin purse to match the purse you bought her?
I love this!
For her stocking, my sister and I got her some little candles, jam, spices, nail polish and a trashy magazine.
Thanks so much for the feedback ladies. I actually loved the idea some of you gave of getting her a wallet or something else to go along with her purse so I went ahead and ordered her a wallet from the coach factory outlet. She's going to love it! So now I'm DONE!! Woohoo!
Thanks again ladies - you guys rock!

Hey, pretty girl, it feels so right,
All wrapped up in my arms so tight
Hey, pretty girl, it feels so right
Life's a long and winding ride
Better have the right one by your side
And happiness don't drag its feet
Time moves faster than you think
We gave my mom a VISA gift card because she already bought her own gift, and wanted us to reimburse her. I told her it was ridiculous that she did that, but she's strong willed
That said, we also bought she and my dad a digital picture frame that has an email address. We can email photos to it as an attachment, and it shows up in their frame within a few minutes. They LOVE it (we exchanged gifts already at Thanksgiving, since we'll be at my in-laws for Christmas). And I don't get flack for not sending them more photos online
It's the Kodak Pulse frame, on Amazon...

Your mom WINS. That's awesome. My mom is also 63 and.... while she has a love for the gays, would not be caught dead at a Gaga concert!
My dad just left for Afghanistan, and my mom quit her job because she hated it and doesn't need the money any more... My brother has sight problems and can't drive, so she will be driving him to work every day (right down the street from my house), picking up DD, and keeping her all day while DH and I work. This way she isn't alone all day and we don't have daycare cost anymore! She will go to Kindergarten in the fall, and obviously, DS will be here in April.
So my mom's first Christmas gift consists of a travel mug, variety of teas, and home "grown" honey from a girl that I work with. That way she can take her tea to drop off my brother and have to it drink while she waits for DD to wake up.
THEN, something I just started putting together today (abusing company printers, shhh) is a binder filled with writing and coloring pages for her to do with DD. I'm not expecting her to do full out lesson plans. This is just full of coloring pages and letter/number handwriting pages so she can give DD something to practice and sit for a few minutes a day. I'm also putting in some easy crafts that will be borderline easy for DD to do with minimal prep on my mom's part. I am also making a double batch letter flashcards that I will put on thicker paper so they can play the match game wth them. ((I'm 6 credits away from my Early Childhood Education degree, so this is super easy and fun for me))
I'm also setting up a Netflix account for their house (per my dad's directions before he left) so mom has movies to watch when she doesn't have DD, or movies to play when DD doesn't nap :-)
My parents travel a lot and my mom just got herself hooked up with a the new iPhone 5 and iPad instead of lugging around her laptop everywhere. So I got her this because I've seen her very disorganized with all the cords and chargers she needs for them and where she put them.

This is awesome! I love your mom!
A couple of years ago, right before we moved out to Hawaii, I got us both Pandora bracelets that Christmas so that we'd have something to share together. Now I get her new charms for Christmas. This year, we're cutting back too, so I only got her one and then I made her a picture frame for baby girl's sonogram.
If she loves jewlery, it's a really fun and nice gift. After the initial buying of the bracelet and a couple charms to start her out, it isn't too costly. Charms start out around $25. There's also another brand I really love called Chamilia that sometimes runs a few dollars cheaper.
*Sorry if you already know all of this!*
