Irelyn Rowan is here!!

Our baby girl arrived at 3:32 pm weighing in at 7 lbs 3 oz.

If you have read my recent posts you may know I was induced today due to some excess bleeding.

They started the oxytocin around 9:30. By around 12 I was starting to feel contractions. My labour moved very quickly. I asked them to break my water around  2:30 at 6 cm. Within like 20 minutes I was fully dilated and pushing.

My silly baby who this entire time has been perfect decided at that time to go into distress. So they quickly wheeled me off to the OR and used a vaccum to help deliver her. So between my pushing and them vaccuming she was quickly born. Sunny side up (face up instead of down). What a silly little baby.

So she is in the NICU for 24 hours or longer for monitoring. Just because she was a little overwhelmed with the delivery and they need to make sure the vaccum didn't cause any bleeding under the skin.

To add to this I have had more bleeding than they like since having her. But after some bloodwork and more oxytocin it seems to have corrected itself. So the nurses and doctors are much happier.

I did manage to do the whole thing with no pain meds like I had wanted in the first place. So even with all the extra stuff I had never wanted, I was able to accomplish that.

For those of you with Doulas. Let me tell you if my doula (who is also my aunt) was not there I think I would have ended up asking for pain meds. She was able to keep me focused on only dealing with one contraction at a time and not thinking of what was ahead in labour.

Anyhow i am so happy to have her here and cannot get over how amazing she is.

I will update tomorrow or Thursday with her status!
