Anyone that had trouble getting pg?

HI Ladies - DH and I have been trying for a year to have a baby and we have had 2 miscarriages. I like my doctor, but I am thinking about changing doctors. I feel like my doctor is just saying - well hopefully the next one will stick. She told me to continue taking prenatal vitamins, folic acid, and a baby aspirin everyday, but we were doing all of those things when we miscarried the second time. I don't know if another doctor will do anything different, but I would like to hear someone else's take on our situation. Did anyone else have trouble getting pg that would recommend their doctor? I have tried looking online and on my insurance site, but there are so many doctors that I have no idea which doctor to go see. I would prefer someone on the east side of town if possible, but I will go wherever. I just feel very frustrated right now and would like to talk to someone. My doctor just keeps saying - have lots of sex and call us when you are pg. Just hoping another doctor may take the time to talk to me about my options. Thanks in advance.

We worked with a RE to get pregnant. We used Dr. Burwinkle with the Institute for Reproductive Health. This is the website:  https://www.cincinnatifertility.com/

We really liked working with him.

I can get pregnant with no problem but have had 4 miscarriages in the last 14ish months.

I see Dr. Michael Thomas at the UC Center for Reproductive Health.  He is an RE.

I needed to take progesterone after ovulation to maintain a pregnancy. I had a 11 week MC. Even though my progestrone levels are normal I need it to stay pregnant and even to prevent preterm labor. I have PCOS.... I have 3 kids with it and now the 4th on the way....

My husband has CBAVD (absence of the vas deferens) so we can't get pregnant without IVF w/ICSI. We are seeing Dr. Burwinkel for the IVF, but we consulted with Dr. NeeOo Chin. Dr. Chin was amazing and we loved working with him. I felt like he took his time and did very thorough diagnostics. We learned a lot about my husband's side of things and mine. For instance, I have two factors that make me more prone to blood clots (and miscarriages) so Dr. Chin started me on a vitamin and recommended Heparin while pregnant.

Good luck to you and your husband! Let me know if you need any more info.

This. My DD is a result of IVF at IRH. You can't go wrong with any of the 3 RE's there. I saw Awadalla and he was great.

I, too, saw Dr. Burkwinkle at the Institute for Reproductive Heath.  Really liked him and the office.  We are now expecting our first and the office has been great with blood work appointments and arranging for our first ultrasound/appointment.  I would highly suggest this practice if your insurance covers the 3 physicians.  Best of luck!!!

After having 2 miscarriages in NJ, my ob/gyn referred me to a reproductive endocrinologist who did a ton of testing. I had a third miscarriage while seeing the RE & then got pg with DD. We got pg right away with this LO, however I was seeing an RE here in Cincinnati based on my history. We saw Dr. Scheiber at IRH, loved him! Both him and his colleagues came highly recommended from two friends who had been through IVF treatments. He actually did additional testing above what my RE did in NJ.

If you are not happy with your ob's response you can ask them for additional testing (blood work) or for a referral to see an RE for more extensive testing (bloodwork, genetic work up, testing to see if your fallopian tubes/uterus are working properly...). I think it differs between doctors whether they refer after 2 or 3 miscarriages. But absolutely advocate for yourself, especially if you feel like something just isn't right! I always thought that if it was something as simple as taking an extra pill....I want to know so that I don't have to go through the trauma of another loss.

PM me if you want more information about testing, my dx, etc. I'm so sorry that you are going through this, it is such a frustrating time. Don't give up home, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

After two miscarriages, our OB referred us to Dr. Scheiber at the Institute for Reproductive Health in Rookwood. He was FABULOUS! I highly recommend him. Even my husband commented on how nice and friendly, and pro-active he was about treatment.

I would recommend seeing a specialist.  I did not have any miscarriages - but after being unsuccessful for a year we saw Dr. Abdallah, who was recommended to me by my OBGyn.  He is incredible - very caring and supportive.  We are going back to him for #2.

I see you've already gotten a few replies for dr burwinkle which sounds gr8. If ur still looking we are currently working with dr awadalla in rookwood inst for reproductive health. He's been great thus far, but this is only our 2nd cycle with femara and timed intercourse. I thnk most impt for anyone ttc is to be confident and comfortable with their dr best of luck to you, I'm right there with ya in terms of ttc and the frustration you can feel at times

I'd like to update to add that after some rude interactions with the office staff at Rookwood, my husband and I began seeing Dr. Michael Thomas. He is through UC, but works out of Christ Hospital. The drs, nurses, and other staff are all fantastic. We just had our embryo transfer yesterday, but are so optimistic. We never felt rushed through appointments and they went above and beyond for us.
