Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Am I paranoid?

I posted a pic of my LO to facebook and one of my friends shared the pic on her wall.  Her friend's list is private so I am not sure who or how many people can see it. I know everyone on my friend's list personally and don't like that she posted it to her wall.  I told her that I am flattered that she reposted it but asked her to remove it and explained why. Do you think I am being paranoid?  I just don't want his pic all over cyber space.

Re: Am I paranoid?

  • I used to be kind of like this, but it's impossible to really control it so I just let it go. My friends are always taking DD's picture and posting it, and all her grandparents/step-grandparents/aunts are sharing pics, and I have no idea who's all on their friend lists. My news feed is a pretty constant stream of babies, and I guess I just figure what can really happen. I'm sure that's really naive of me, but it's what I tell myself! So I guess I think you're a little paranoid, but I don't blame you at all.

  • Absolutely not. DH and I have agreed no pics if DD up on the Internet. We both don't have Facebook but my best friend does and she looks out to see if anyone does post a pic if DD and she lets us know. So far just my dumb cousin posted a pic but we asked her to take if down right away and she did. Everyone else respects our decision and doesn't post pics of DD.

  • We are right there with you. I actually did ask a friend to take own a picture that she took with her phone then instantly put on FB. I just said that I know she love s LO but we really didn't want his picture on FB and would she mind taking it down. It was no big deal.

We do keep a online album of his photos so that our family can see how he's growing but it is a private album on picass and we only share the link with family. I like it a lot better than FB.

  • Honestly, if you don't want your LO's picture on the internet, don't post pictures on Facebook. You have no control over that picture after you post it.

  • I'd say unless your babies a celebrity .. I wouldn't worry about it.  I dont think it is to a point where someone can come and steal your baby or steal your identity.  In fact, on a positive note the way I see it with my DS.  The more pics I have of him out there, if he were to go missing.. someone would notice him sooner!
