Hi there, my husband and I are in the process of researching agencies in mn to do a domestic infant adoption.
We are down to Bethany Christian Services, New Horizons our of Blue Earth MN, Christian Family Life Services out of Fargo, ND, and Adoption Minnesota out of Minneapolis, mn.
What are your opionions on these agencies, have any of you guys used them? Thanks in advance for any info!
Re: looking to adopt in MN, opinions/tips?
I don't have any personal experience, but my friend works for new life family services and loves it! Seems like a great organization!
Maybe see if any of them have an info night where prospective patents who are new to the process can learn more about the organizations (I'm sure you have already thought of that....but sometimes meeting people in person can help you get a gut reaction for which one is right for you and your family situation)
Good luck and keep us posted with how things are going!
We are currently in the waiting pool at New Life and have loved our experience with them. I can give you more information if you'd like in an email: autopilotlegs at gmail dot com
:::Our Adoption Journey:::
Evan James was born 1/24/13 and matched with us 2/20/13. The LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!
I'm in the Willmar area too, actually we just moved out of Willmar to the NLS area.
DH and I started the adoption process with Christian Family Life Services, but then DH was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and they require a year of cancer-free screens before they'll continue with your application (some places required 3-5 years, but they looked at our case individually, and recognized that testicular cancer has much more effective treatments than say leukemia, and adjusted their policy accordingly). We found out we were pregnant a few months shy of the year wait.
We went with CFLS for a few of reasons, first, they were recommended to us by another family, second, the adoption laws in North Dakota are slightly more adoptive family friendly. The birth parents don't have as long of a period of time to change their mind, and lastly, it pulled from a pool of birth parents a little bit further away from our area. We were fine with open adoption, but we just didn't want to be running into the birth parents at the grocery store.
