Boston Babies

Brigham and Women's Hospital or Newton-Wellesley Hospital

Hi Girls,

I have a choice between these 2 hospitals for the labor.

I am not sure which one to choose, and none of my girlfriends had a baby there.

Does anyone have a list of pros and cons for both hospitals?

Thank you.

  • I don't have a list of pros and cons.  but, I was born at B&W and my Mom had a great experience.  I had my daughter at NW and that is where I'm having the second baby.  I had a complication during childbirth that sent me into surgery and I almost had to have a hysterectomy.  The docs at NW were amazing and I can honestly say that if I wasn't lucky enough to be there I might not be pregnant with my 2nd now!  It's a great hospital!

  • I also can't provide a list of pros and cons, but can say that BWH was a really good experience. We had an amazing LD nurse who really should get some sort of award for her professionalism, caring nature. Really she truly was wonderful. Her name is Lois, should you happen to end up
    there. GL!!

  • I delivered at both places my first at NWH and my little one at BWH

i loves both place but they are really different atmospheres NWH is more about pushing you to do what they think is write for u.

For example after i had my baby i put her in the nursery for the first night cause i had been in labor for 23 hours and ended up having a c-section the next day they wanted me to start breastfeeding (which i still hadn't made a decision on ) and before i could blink there was a lactation consultant in my room showing me all the different ways to hold the baby to feed. When i told them im not sure if i wanted to breastfeed it was like i swore at them.

BWH is more laid back what ever u want to to they will help u with u run the show they don't push u in any direction. The also ask you  how u feel before giving their option

  • I delivered @NWH my little girl 4 weeks early, via emergency c-section. She was in the "special care nursery". The nurses were great about letting me be up there and not bothering me  for vitals. The only complant I have is that the food is a slow to come like 9am for breakfast, which is tough when you have been up early. They do have muffins in the kitchen to have while waiting for breakfast.
