Ergo users, a question

Is anyone using their ergo in any position other than baby in the front cuddled against your chest yet?

I have stopped using the insert a week or so ago [he'd nearly cleared the lower weight limit, and has pretty amazing neck control]. But he wants to look at what I'm doing... And is becoming a little owl like [ie twisting his neck as far around as possible] to do so.

Seeing as the ergo doesn't allow them to face outward I thought I might try the hip position... But I would love to hear other people have done this first.

Re: Ergo users, a question

  • I have used all three. Emery loves the back carry position and I can get more done around the house this way. Unfortunately she likes to lick and puke on my back lol!

  • Hip carry is super uncomfortable for me in the Ergo. Back carry is easier on my back, but harder to do. I have a Beco Gemini that allows a forward facing front carry, but that's hard on your back too. Is a ring sling an option for you? They're pretty inexpensive and best for a hip carry.

Ahem. Ring slings seem to go for around 80 to 100 dollars here [I just looked]. Yeah it's less than a new ergo but still not cheap.

Whaaaaat?! I'm off to shop. Is EBay an option? Is it the shipping that makes them so expensive? 80 dollars is ridiculous

  • I have a Maya Wrap ring sling and I loved it w Caleb. Hunters pushing 19lbs and I need more support than it offers. Maybe it should travel to AU

eBay might be an option if I knew which ones were trustworthy... And it might partially be the shipping, but most likely it's just the "Australia" tax ie charge more because it's Australia and we can [and historically we paid more because we were so low against the USD, but now that we are even well charge the same anyway because people are used to it].

Gah... eBay is still 80 with shipping...
  • Thebabywearer.com has a swap site where moms sell or trade carriers, wraps and slings. I've heard great things about Sleeping Baby Slings too
