New to The Bump

Trying to get pregnant....

Hello i am new to this website// This is my story. My hubby and I got married Oct.8th.2011. We have been thinking/Trying to get pregnant. I have been tyring to get pregnant for a few months now but nothing is happening, this is something that i have been stressing about. I haven't got checked out and neither has he because i am afraid that the doc. may say i can't get pregnant and that would be very depressing to me.

Advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you,

Sarah

  • Welcome and good luck!   Remember that it can take the average couple up to a year to get pregnant.  A few months isn't really enough time since you only have a 15-20% chance of getting pregnant each cycle. A doctor probably wouldn't check you and DH out at this time because they usually say to see them after you have been TTC for a year or 6 months if you are 35+. Are you charting?  If you are then just try and be patient.  If not, you'll want to start. It can really help you understand your cycle and when your FW is.  I use fertilityfriend.com.

  • There is an app for your phone called fertility tracker, its easy to use and helps you figure out your cycle. I got pregnant easy, I was really really lucky. I used ovulation kits to learn my days of fertility, and I have also heard charting your temperature too (though I didnt do that). Relax, and don't worry about it, when the time is right it will happen. Having too much sex can make the sperm less strong, having sex 3-4 days a week will make sure that there is always sperm ready for the egg.

Also get on folic acid and prenatals before your even TTC is also important. Go to your doctor and also get a pre pregnancy check up to make sure that everything is a-ok!

Hope this helps and good luck! :)

  • thank you very much// I think i just need to be patient and stop worrying so much..I havent really used the charts but im definitely going to try that :)
  • My husband and I got married in June and I was ready to start trying immediately, though he needed time. In october he said he was ready so I am NOT one to be patient, lol. I got the clear blue easy furtility monitor off of amazon. It is 150 dollars plus 30 for a 2 month supply of the pee strips. I found out using the monitor that I do NOT ovulate regularly. One month I ovulated day 14, the next I ovulated day 22. If not for the monitor we would not be pregnant right now. It took us 2 months to concieved and not I'm 6 weeks and 5 days. My suggestion is to go out and get regular ovulation testing strips, if those are hard to read or you want something a little more thorough, get the ovulation monitor. It's expensive, but for me the 170 was TOTALLY worth not having to wait that aweful 2 weeks to test more months then I had to. Good luck!
