Naps/waking up during the night

Can you help me with naps?  We are really struggling with them.  How long before first nap?  Also, if  your LO wakes up during the night do you ever give them a bottle?  Its hit or miss with STTN for us but if he gets up its almost impossible to get him to go back to sleep without it.  I know i am settimg myself up for trouble when we have to take the bottle away.  Just curious what your experience has been like..

Re: Naps/waking up during the night

  • Abby's first nap is about 2 to 2.5 hours after she wakes up. She is then usually up for 3 hours or so before her second nap. Once she wakes up from that one, she's up until bedtime unless she takes a quick nap on the ride home from MIL's.

I can't offer anything on the bottle at night. Abby hasn't gotten a bottle at night since maybe 3 months old. She is hit or miss lately on if she wakes up at night or not. If she does, we put back in the paci, cover her back up with her blanket, give her her stuffed animal, and rub her back for a few minutes. She's usually back asleep before we get to the backrub.

  • Allison's naps are similar to the above.

We cut the nighttime feedings around 6 months.  I just started giving her less in each bottle (lowered it by two ounces every few nights) until I stopped giving her overnight bottles.  The first few nights of no bottle were rough but it only took about three nights before she stopped waking for them.

  • Madison wakes up between 7-8am and takes her first nap between 10:30-11:30 (lasts about an hour).  Usually, she will take a second nap anywhere from 4-5pm and again that last for an hour.

Bedtime is between 7:30-8:00.  If she wakes up at night, I give her a bottle.  Like you, its the only way to get her back to sleep.  Last night was the first night she STTN in about 5 days.  When she's teething, I am prepared to be up 1-3 times a night.  ITS SUCKS!  When she's not teething, she will usually STTN.

  • Lucia is awake for about 3 hours before her first nap and for about 3 hrs between her 2 naps. We don't get her out of bed before 6:30 am, or until she's been in bed for an hour for naps. She was sick a couple weeks ago and didn't eat for 5 days. After that she woke up hungry in the middle of the night for about a week and a half and we of course gave her a bottle. Now she's back to eating normallyagain and rately wakes. If she does she fusses for a few minutes alone in her crib and goes back to sleep. We did do CIO this summer because she was waking out of habit.
