Odd day at work...

So I work at a childcare with toddlers. And I love my job, however one of my coworkers was talking about adoption to another one. Then she turns to me and asks, "so when are you going to have a baby?" I was shocked to hear this, cause I've only told two people I work with that we've had to miscarriages. I asked her why, and she said cause you're married. Therefore, I should be having a baby. I don't disagree with her, I want a baby, just odd to ask me that.

    I'm sorry for your losses OP. =( and I'm sorry that this ignorant person things that you have to have a baby just because you're married.

    People around here automatically assume that marriage equals babies. My cousins have been married 8 years and haven't had a baby yet, and even though they're about to start TTC, the family has been ALL over them to have a baby for ages! Hell they wanted to enjoy just being married and they wanted to travel and pay of debts and buy a house first. I don't have much room to talk because DH and I started TTC 3 months after we got married, but why can't people understand that some couples done want to have a baby immediately after getting married? It frustrates my cousin, and in turn frustrates me because I know she's irritated by it.

    It does seem pretty insensitive to ask that.  For some reason many people think that as soon as you're married you need to pop a baby out 9 months to the day.

    I get really frustrated with people that are so bold as to just come out and ask.  Some people have difficulty conceiving, want to wait, or simply don't want children.  I think it is very rude to ask.  You never know a person's situation.  

     In your case, you have had 2 miscarriages and it was probably difficult to have someone ask.  I'm sorry about that! 

     Bottom line... people can be rude!
