Baby Names

Sibset too product/label-y?

I see a lot of kids clothing lines or products with names like this.  Usually written out in lowercase with a plus sign.  Something like stella + sam

Wondering if you think it sounds like we're selling something if our 2U2 little ones went by :

Luca and Livia

Luca is my DS and Livia is in our top 5 for DD.

Livia is an old Roman name and yes, I realize some people might think we forgot the O.  Just more curious about the sibset sound...

Thanks!

  • I think avoiding alliteration would help to alieve the store name issue.

  • Postscript:

I completely made up stella + sam, then googled it to perfectly find

Stella and Sam is a preschool television series based on the Canadian book series "Stella" and "Sam" by Marie-Louise Gay

This is exactly why I posted the question.

Yeah, my DH really likes Livia but the alliteration is what is bothering him.

  • Not only are the names alliterative, they both end in "a." Too cutesy for me. Love them separately, though!

  • Well, the brand is Livie + Luca so no, I think it goes fine together as a sibset and wouldn't worry about the brand.

  • First, I love both of these names!

They are too matchy for me personally, but I don't think of a label. I'm just not a fan of the alliteration. But I don't side-eye other people for it, unless it gets really bad (like pp's Duggar reference). So I guess it comes down to whether the alliteration really bugs you, and whether you're planning to stop at two kids; if you have a 3rd, will you feel it needs to match? That would be too much for me, but it also might be a little odd to have two names that are so close and then a third name that isn't (although that would still be better than 3 matching ones, IMO!).

  • I really like both names, but they are a bit matchy. I don't think it's worth a side eye though.
  • Oh my goodness, I love Livia.  I get so annoyed when people say it sounds like a uneek version of Olivia.  I think it's fine with Luca.  I mean, maybe it sounds like a baby boutique, but there are worse things, like two names that go together but are intolerably bad as names.

  • I have two C names for mine so the alliteration doesn't bother me. Livia just doesn't sound complete to me though as a whole name.

  • Personally, alliteration with names does not bother me in the least. I was actually surprised how many are against it on this board. I think it's cute and I like both names :)

  • Normally I would say they're perfect together, but there's a fairly popular kids' shoe brand called Livie & Luca. So if you're worried about them sounding like a brand... yeah, they would.

  • I think it makes a BEAUTIFUL sibset!
  • I think it's lovely but if you plan to have a third, would you want an L name as well? If not, maybe they would feel left out that the first two match and their's didn't? You might be locking yourself into a lifetime of L names!

This.  I'm not a fan of the alliteration between siblings.
