we have born free bottles and nipples (a few diff levels). wondering if it's best for me to buy all new bottles and nipples or just re-sterilize the ones we already have. what did you do if/when you used bottles for #2?
Yes, I did. There was less than a 3 month gap between when DD stopped bottles completely and when DS was born. So they stayed in our kitchen cabinet and I just sanitized them before he started using them. Neither of my kids had a whole lot of bottles early on anyway as they were BFed.

We did. Like PP, there was only a 2 months or so gap between when my DD stopped using them and DS was born. I didn't even put them away.
Turns out my DS couldn't use them anyway because he was tongue tied (he needed ones that weren't wide mouth like we had) and he had severe reflux. He taught me that there is no use trying to plan for anything.
We bought new ones. We used playtex drop ins. You can buy a pack of them for around $15. DS's got pretty beat up from being washed and stuff and I wanted new nipples. Had we used a more expensive brand, I probably would have just reused them.
I fully plan on reusing.. DS will be just 12 months when LO#2 comes, so I'm sure he'll still be getting a bottle a couple times a day still! We are going to try to nurse again, so we'll see how soon LO#2 will need them, but I don't see a reason to have to buy all new ones? I'll probably get new nipples as they seem to wear pretty quick.
i got new nipples but that was because I weaned DD around 9 months old and she went onto size 3 nipples so I had to buy size 1 and 2, but once he got to size 3 had used most of the ones I already had.
I weaned DS early (4 months) so I ended up needing more bottles. That wasn't my plan but having mastitis 5x in 3.5 months made me quit bfing early. both were on bottle at the same time then DD gave it up on her own soon after.

Tried to but DD refused the Dr. Brown bottle we already had (glad I only bought 1 pack of new nipples). We had to switch to a wide nipple style for her, we mostly use Tommee Tippee.
Just don't go overboard with whatever you do b/c #2 may be picky.
I have more nipples than I would ever need. I left 6 nipples/rings at the daycare. And i pump and send the bottles and the are sealed with a solid cap. When shes with me she only nurses. But we have some we use here when it just daddy and baby. The majority of the nipples are in a ziplock bag in our cabinet and will never get used, so i will use the new nipples for baby #2.

I did not, but only because I hated the bottles we used (Playtex Vent Airs), but they were the only ones DS1 would take (we must've tried a dozen kinds). They were SUCH a pain to wash because they had five parts. Thus far, DS2 seems happy with the basic 3-piece Medela bottles that go with my pump, so I'm hoping I can just use those.

We use playtex drop ins, that have liners not glass, so yes we reused them.
We did buy new nipples of course.
