So two nights ago at 33 weeks, I ended up in L&D because I was dehydrated from a stomach virus and having lower back pain. I had no idea I was in preterm labor! When the doc checked my cervix, I was 75% effaced and 2 cm dilated. She said she could feel the baby's head when she checked my cervix. They put me on a mag drip (yuck!) and they gave me 2 steroid shots to help develop baby's lungs. They kept me for 2 nights because his heart rate was all over the place. I'm now home on bed rest for a week and see my doc in 3 days to determine what will happen next. I'm just curious if anybody has had a similar situation as mine and how far into the pregnancy you made it! They kept hinting that baby may come very soon and that if he can just hold out a week that would be great because the steroids should have his lungs developed enough by then. I can feel him pressed up against by pelvic floor constantly
Re: Will baby be premature??
At 32 weeks I went to L&D because I was having issues with my blood pressure. At the hospital they checked me and found that I was 50% effaced and 2 cm dilated. They gave me a shot of terb. and both steriod shots for baby lungs. I was sent home on bedrest along with procadia too. I was told to stay on bedrest until I hit 35 weeks. I actually never made it to 35 weeks. I delivered DD#2 at 34 weeks 5d because of PTL. She spent 14 days in the NICU.
If you start to feel any contractions, get yourself back to the hospital/call your doctor. The day before I delivered my contractions were timeable and I just decided to go in again. Things happened really fast after my cervix relaxed and baby was born with 30 minutes (no drugs, no epi, but you have to remember I'm a STM, so things do happen a little bit faster).
Praying for you and your LO. Please keep us posted.
