Re: What to say in thank you notes?
Thank you so much for X, I really appreciate it. I can't wait for the little one to wear/play/ use it. It was great to see you at the shower and I can't wait to introduce you to little one in x month.
Love
Your name here
Dear (insert guest's name),
Thank you so much for coming to my baby shower. I had a wonderful time catching up with you and it meant so much to me that you were able to be a part of this celebration. Baby and I can't wait to use our new (insert gift) that you gave us. I love it! (or if you don't, gush about how thoughtful it was for them etc.) Baby will be here before we know it!
Again, thank you so much for spending part of your day with me.
Love,
Ashleyr409
My "formula" is pretty similar:
Dear X,
Thank you so much for coming to my shower and the (gift). It was so thoughtful (generous for checks and gift cards) of you to give us (gift) - I know that DH and I will really enjoy using (gift) with the baby (or baby will look so adorable in that outfit/we'll really enjoy reading (book title) to baby).
It was so nice to see you at the shower and we are looking forward to seeing you (next time you'll see the person) or introducing you to the baby. (more ambiguous)
Thanks again/love,
Me
He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
This is a weird question to me...haven't we all written a ton of thank you's? High school graduation, College graduation, weddings, birthday gifts, etc.
Keep it simple, keep it real.
Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

You'd think - but sadly "Thank you" doesn't always cross people's minds it seems. I've yet to be thanked for a gift I got a friend for her wedding 6 months ago.
Well everyone's situation is different. Personally, I didn't have a college or grad school parties/gifts and I'm not married, and we really dont get birtgday gifts after elementart school ehen we stopped having birthday parties, so the last time I really needed to write a thank you note for a gift was when I was 17 and graduating high school. I have done it before, but I'm a little rusty and I thinking a little more conscious of social etiquette. Who knows when the last time OP needed to write one as well and not everyone was taught growing up to write them. She is making an effort now and wants some input. I do agree though, keeping them simple and genuine with be more well received then filling in the blanks of a generic thank you note
