Gifts for daycare provider?

Hey all you mama's out there who take your babies to daycare!  Just wondering if ya'll are planning to give your providers a little something for Christmas?  I have been debating.  We had a bad experience at our first daycare and have started taking our little man to one that we love.  The two ladies who take care of him are great and I am so thankful that I feel like maybe a small gift would be a way to say thanks.  If you do plan on giving your providers something what do you plan on giving them?  I've been looking on pinterest for some ideas..but haven't come across anything yet...I'd love to hear your input or suggestions :)

  • I'm looking for some good suggestions too! One of the moms in our room is collecting money for gift cards for the 2 main teachers and one frequent floater. She's going to split it 40/40/20. I gave $50, but I'm also going to do something extra for the 2 main teachers. I was thinking a card with a nice note, a Christmas picture of my son, and some candy. Not too original, but I can't seem to think of anything great. They do such a good job! I tried Pinterest also.

  • We go to an in-home with two main providers (and a few people that come in for extra help occasionally). We plan to give each of them $50.

Daycare providers don't make a ton of money, so I think it's most appropriate to give a cash gift.  It is more of a "holiday bonus" than a gift...and I think what would be most appreciated!  If you're uncomfortable giving cash, perhaps a gift card to a store that is practically like cash (like Target).

  • I pay 120 per week for 3 days. I plan on giving my sitter a card with 120 cash. I absolutely adore her and so does my son, and she deserves the bonus. She is with my LO more than anyone else besides me, so I want her to know how much we appreciate her.

  • I used to work in a day care, and we had a class mom who would collect money, and either give giftcards, or money. they also gave us stuff for easter (an easter lilly), valentines day (candy) and thanksgiving we had a meal for all the teachers in the school from the parents. so any gift will work, the people that take care of your child love them almost as much as you do! I miss my 2 yr old class, they should be 4 now!! and i still get emails from some of the parents with pictures!
  • I gave McDonalds gift cards to little ones three teachers.  They take turns picking up breakfast before arriving, so I figured this would offset a couple of days for them.  I don't bake very well and would hate to get them sick!Smile

  • We got each of my DS daycare teachers a star shaped cinnamon roll from Great Harvest, they wrap them nicely with a cute bow. We then attached a card with DS hand print on it, and wrote a note on the back. We are strapped for cash this year so we couldn't do much more.
