My DH has been sick for the last five days. It started with puking, then diarhea and lethargy. He still isn't really eatting and is visiting the bathroom A LOT in between naps. Well fast forward and Friday DD threw up, slept more of Saturday or just laid around with me, then today the diarhea started in and she's puking again. Needless to say, I am staying home tomorrow, but is there anything I can do for her? I am nursing her regularly, she has her sippy of water in between and I've cut out all solid food for the time being. Thankfully, she doesn't have a fever. Any ideas?
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
I think these things just have to run their course. Obviously keep her well hydrated, but that is about all you can do. Have you thought about pedialyte or gatorade? DDs hate pedialyte but will sometimes tolerate gatorade. My pedi grudgingly said ok to gatorade because they won't take the pedialyte, I'm not sure why, but ask your pedi. GL, and I hope you don't get it. Sounds awful.
Lucia and H and I had it. She couldn't even have formula or she would throw up. She drank pedialyte, slept a ton, and was cuddled until she felt better. Occasionally she could tolerate cheerios or toast. She was super hungry but since formula made her throw up that was the only things she could keep down.
Oh, it's been awful. For us it began with DS on Wednesday while I was making dinner. He puked then kept puking every 20 min or so 'till we got him to sleep around 10:30 that night. Poor kid kept puking the next day then it turned to diarrhea. I came down next and then DD. DH was last and his was the most mild.
Now we are actually on round two of illness again begun with DS. This time we are all getting some kind of rhino-virus. Sucky!!!!!!!
You question about what to do for her...you're doing it. Cut out all the solids 'till her appetite really comes back, nurse her when she's willing. I keep a towel on the floor so that if vomit begins we just go to floor where I can help DS got to all 4s. DD knows to do that now. It's a lot easier to pick up a vomit towel than clean it from hardwood or carpet :-/
