DS usually does pretty well when I drop him off. He immediately starts playing and I sneak away. This morning, however, he was super clingy and began to cry after me. I left the room and looked through the window waiting for him to be okay. He and his teacher couldn't see me.
I saw him walk towards his teacher (while crying) and bring his arms up suggesting that he wanted to be held. Well his teacher completely ignored him so he dropped to the floor continuing to sob and looking up at his teacher, waiting for her to hold him.
She didn't hold him. She didn't even try to distract him with a book or toy. I immediately walked in and comforted him. By this time, he was sobbing uncontrollably. She said that she can't pick him up because her back is killing her. Ummmm, Okay. WTH? I empathize that her back hurts, but part of her job is to hold young toddlers.
I told the director who apologized on the teacher's behalf, but did I have a right to be furious or am I just an over-reacting parent?
ETA: I know I did the right thing by discussing it with the director. I guess I just needed to vent about it here.
Re: Daycare (again)
Your kid cannot be suffering because she has a backache. I would keep an eye on it and complain if it happend again.
So I agree with Nita.. If she can't pick up your son, at least acknowledge him. Sorry you had to witness that but glad you talked to the manager.
