Lincoln is quite talkative but he never says "mom" or "mama" or anything like that. On occasion he will say "mama" but it is in reference to my mom (Momere.)
Anyway, my parents watched him last night so we could go out for my birthday and my mom defrosted some breast milk for him. After he took a sip he yelled, "Mama!" and ran to the Christmas tree and pointed to my photo. I feel pleased he associates me with something he enjoys. We're still nursing at almost 17 months and for every incredulous stare, I have this to back me up on this endeavor being worthwhile.
Now, if only he would refer to me as "mama" in my presence! For my birthday today he started saying "hit" prior to wopping me.

Re: Milk Mama
Happy Birthday - And congrats for going strong after 17 months
That is quite an accomplishment!
DD2 isn't much of a talker either. She tries to sound out words after we say them, but nothing that can be recognized, really.
DS has said dada forever, but just started calling me mama within the last month. He doesn't usually say it to my face, though.
