I had another 4 week appt today and I didn't have blood draw, I haven't had one since my 8 week appt besides the quad screen, I've just been peeing in a cup and that's it, which I know is used to test for multiple things but I can't imagine it tests for anemia ect.
Just curious what everyone else is doing, I go back in 4 wks for the GD test and she scheduled another u/s in 4 weeks just to check baby growth, she said she does it for all 40 and overs.
And she's double checking my quad screen results because they came back so good, she said i'm probably just really lucky, but she wants to make sure they didn't mix me up with someone else she said my risk went from 1 in 2000 to something like 1 in 25,000. I'm going with the assumption that they're my results and they're just freakishly good, but I will be furious if they mixed me up with someone else, that would be unacceptable!
Re: Do you get blood draws at every OB appt?
Those ARE freakishly good results! Congratulations!
I haven't had any blood drawn since 8 weeks either except for my MaterniT21 blood draw. However, I got blood drawn today for my glucose tolerance test (1 hour), and I believe they also test that sample for anemia and other blood-related issues. The tech who was drawing my blood told me, "Celebrate, this is one of the last blood draws you'll have to do!" Assuming I pass the GTT, of course...
Over-40 parents...what we lack in vigor, we make up for with cunning.
I have only gotten a few blood draws during this pregnancy....very early on and then for the NT/Quad but I pee in a cup every time. I *think* that's pretty standard if things are going okay.
I would freak out if they mixed up my test results with someone else! That's kind of a weird thing to suggest w/o researching it first. How long until they let you know?
I think they do one in the beginning to check for all sorts of fun things like iron levels and STD's. Then they take a sample for your NT Scan. After that the Quad(if you opt for it) or just to detect neural tube defects or MaterniT21 and the like.
I've been thru all that and my next app is the GTT test and my next blood draw. I've mostly been peeing in a cup, getting weighed and my blood pressure taken at standard appts. Today was the first time the doc measured my bump.
I haven't had blood drawn regularly since my betas. I did have it drawn last week at my OB appt for my AFP blood test (test for neural tube defects/Spina Bifida).
I sure hope they didn't mix your results up, I would be furious. But I really think the chance of that happening is very low.

Thanks Ladies, I guess this is standard then, I'll get a blood draw at the next one for GD.
She didn't say how long it would take but she said just to assume they were correct. She said she has very rarely really seen them go to that extreme of being good because of the automatic age skew, but she had a 42 yr old with really good results and doublechecked those and they were indeed correct. She just wants to cover all the bases since lab mix ups though rare can still happen, I would have maybe appreciated being told this after she checked though not before..
