Bath time help

So my little guy love the bath if he is in the inflatable duck tub. But if we put him in the regular tub he goes nuts! Screaming standing begging to get out. Any suggestions to help the transition. I put all the same toys in and it doesn't seem to help

Re: Bath time help

  • Is the water level and temperature the same? Do you fill the regular tub up before he gets in, or while he's sitting in it??

  • When we were traveling we had to bathe DD in a normal tub and the first time she screamed the whole time. The second time, I kept singing to her and splashing her with water playfully. She relaxed after that. It didn't help that 4-5 people were trying to get her to relax the first time so she was totally overwhelmed. When it was just me and her and we slowly got her used to the water, she calmed down. I didn't give her any toys either just so she and I were concentrating on getting her to relax. GL!

Same temp, let him watch it fill but lower level.

This! DS used to always scream and cry when I used the blender (I use it alot), so every time I'd turn it on, I'd have a big smile on my face and be like "this is so fun! it's not so bad" etc. And after about 3 instances, he relaxed. Now he thinks it's the funniest thing ever when the blender is going. So maybe something like gracefulruby suggested.

  • With DS I sat in the tub with him for the first few times we put him in the big tub

  • Why not just keep in the duck tub? DD doesn't like the big tub either so we are still using the baby tub.

  • I have a similar problem, my LO freaks out any time water or shampoo gets near his eyes, even a little amount, and then keeps trying to stand up in the tub and wants out.  I've tried distractions, different types of shampoos or ways to wash his hair, but it makes bath time a wee bit stressful, because he slips every time he tries to stand up.
