Hi all, I'd love to get everyone's opinion on a dilemma I'm having...My son's name is Thomas Edward, Thomas being my father-in-law and Edward being my dad. While I love the name, I am kicking myself for using Edward as his middle name because I want nothing more than to name my second son Edward! What do you all think of reusing a first child's middle name as a first?
TIA!
Re: Reusing Middle Name
I think this is totally fine considering one will be called Thomas, and the other Edward. A lot of people have juniors and III's and it's NBD.

I say go for it. I doubt anyone will think it's weird, unless your first son goes by the names "Thomas Edward" to everyone. If it's just a middle name on a paper it will probably not be given a second thought.
I have a slightly similar situation where my husband wants the middle name of our male baby to be Charles, because that's been a tradition in his family for a few generations. I told him that if we end up having three boys though, we'll have three babies with Charles as their middle name. I just don't think it's fair to give one boy a special and meaningful name and not the others. Plus it's just a middle name, so who's going to really care that much? I think the same goes for your situation. The name means something to you, so name your baby Edward.

Problem solved.
He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.

Its just a middle name. I personally don't see a problem with it. Middle names are pointless anyway. No one uses them except maybe the parents. I don't think I've told anyone my middle name since I was in elementary school.
If you like the name use it. Its not like you have two kids with the same first name. That would be weird.
I agree. I would never do it, but its your choice.
