.... Well I went for my u/s on thurs and a surprise.... I'm having identical twins. yikes. That means I will have 5 kids 5 and under.... However they said they are momo twins. Anyone experience this before or know someone who has?....
Lurking. I have a distant cousin who had them a few years ago. She was very high risk as most are. She gave birth at 33 weeks which is pretty normal. They were in NICU for a little bit but now they are 3 and just fine! I would stay away from Dr. Google. However I do know she recently joined a Facebook group that she finds very helpful. I also remember her saying that 75% of momo twins are girls! Hope everything goes well!
I doubt it: "Monoamniotic twins are rare, with an occurrence of 1 in 35,000 to 1 in 60,000 pregnancies,[1] corresponding to about 1% of twin pregnancies.[3]"
I have a friend who has a set! It was a little stressful bc she had to be in the hospital from like 28 weeks on, so they could do daily ultrasounds to make sure they weren't tangled in each other's cords or something. They delivered them pretty early, but after a short NICU stay they went home and now are sweet healthy one year old girls!
Medicine is amazing nowadays. I wonder how many sets of these twins survived even just 30 years ago, and now they know exactly what to do to keep them safe!
Congrats! A very good girlfriend of mine had a momo pregnancy. She was on bedrest in the hospital for about 8 weeks and delivered at 32-34 weeks, I can't remember right now. Her little guys were in the NICU several weeks and are now thriving almost 3yos.
It'll be hard with managing bestrest and all the other kids, but you'll get through it! I'd check out the multiples board, there are definitely girls there who have experienced it.

Wow! So exciting! I hope that they are girls, at least if you want girls. I have 3 boys, too, and even though we'd be happy to have a healthy baby, it'd be nice to have a daughter. Good luck and keep us posted!
Wow congratulations x2! Similar to others, I have heard that momo twins do carry more risk, but I'm sure your doc will keep you under close care and watch! Be sure to intro yourself on the Multiples board - there are plenty of MoMs over there who can share their experience.
I have twins but not that kind I know tons of moms with the same type and the doctors just keep a close eye on everything just like with any set of twins. It will be lots of fun to have your twins, I'm happy for you don't worry about all the risks and don't stress out believe me as twin mom the last thing you need is to worry about the complications that could happen. I'm sure the doctors will take good care if all three of you

This is true. When was your ultrasound? Early in pregnancy it is VERY difficult to confirm mono mono twins on ultrasound with certainty.
Either way, ideally you will be watched very closely. Hope everything goes well and congrats!
