Baby Showers

I'm worried over nothing, right?

My shower is 3 weeks from today, and invitations haven't been mailed yet.  I don't want to bug my hostess because I'm very grateful that she is throwing the shower, but I'm getting a little nervous about it!  Please tell me that there is plenty of time and I'm worried over nothing. . .

  • With 3 weeks out, I'd be concerned.  But you can't really do anything about it, so take whatever comes and be happy.

  • At 3 weeks, I'd be pushing for them to be sent.

  • People's calendars are jam packed this time of year. I would ask her when she is sending them out, or offer to pick them up from her and get them to the post office for her.

Yes. I'd be nervous too. I'd offer to post them too.

Three weeks prior is when they should be mailed.  Is there a reason she's holding out?

I have never got an invite to a shower at 3 weeks.  Usually they are sent around 6 weeks with the RSVP 2-3 weeks before the shower.  This way you can give a final count to the hall, order any favors or things like that and take care of last minute details.

I would definitly ask or maybe have your mother or someone ask.  I would be concerned like someone said before this is a busy time of year you need to give people notice about things like this.

  • Bug her.  I texted my BFF/Hostess at about 3/5 weeks out (shower is now in two weeks) and just owned that I was probably being a hormonal mama to be, but was a little concerned that they were going to get mixed in with all the Christmas Cards arriving this time of year.  It lit a fire under her and she got them out prompty.  It will be fine!

  • Argh. . . Thanks, ladies!  I talked with her today, and she promised me that they will be in the mail tomorrow.  Of course, she said the same thing a week ago, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll really get mailed out this time!  We are only inviting about 20 people, so it could end up just being a tiny shower.

As long as people have 2 week-ends before the shower (to shop) I think you are OK...but of course with Christmas thrown in the mix she is really cutting it close.

Personally I would give everyone invited a heads up that they are going to be getting an invite to your shower on (date) at (time).  Either call them or email them so they can reserve the time out of their schedules.  It sounds like the shower is just after the New Year...so if I were a guest I'd want to know.

BTW...I have never gotten a shower invite further ou then 4 weeks.  It's not a wedding!  If I got one 6 weeks in advance I'd probably forget about it.  lol

  • Ditto on the 6 weeks.  Mine are apparently going out right about now (so will for sure get mixed in with Christmas cards!) for a February 3rd shower date.  Three weeks seems rather short notice.  Hopefully, the people being invited have already heard about it in passing from a friend or family member and have set that day aside to attend.
