Yea, no Santa pics here, either. My 5th Christmas with kids and no santa picture. DD1 is still afraid, but is getting better. She's agreed to go up and talk to him if we see him again but only if DH is with her. DD2 screamed bloody murder the 2 times we saw him, even from 15 feet away. I don't do crying santa pics.
DD1 is the same. We were at the Christmas market this weekend and she said she wanted to go say hi to him, but then there was a solid 45 minute wait. There was no way I was waiting that long, especially with DD2 who was more than ready for her nap, only to risk her freezing when her turn came. I told her we'd come say hi on a less busy day, but just the fact that she actually asked to see him is giving me hope that we might get a Santa pic this year.
As for doing crying pics, I wouldn't force my crying child to go sit on Santa's lap, but if my kid makes it there and then starts crying, I will most certainly capture that moment
We went to a Christmas party last week where they were doing Santa pics, but the event photographer hasn't posted them yet.
I do have a feeling how it'll look though. When we got to the front of the (not terribly long) line, this lady took Olivia from me and passed her to a guy dressed as an elf who passed her to Santa. They weren't letting the parents anywhere near Santa. So the pic will almost certainly be a slightly confused, "Why the heck did I just go through an assembly line to get here? Where is my mom? And why are they shaking those damned bells at me?"
I'll prolly take her to Bass Pro next weekend. They do free pics, so even if both Santa pics suck, I didn't pay for either of them.
Haha, I'm loving these pics, and hoping more people post theirs today!
We are not doing Santa pics (and didn't last year, either), because DD has a crazy fear of men with facial hair. She was six months old before she would go to my FIL (who has a crazy mustache) without screaming bloody murder. So we steered clear of Santa last year! This year, we have walked up to the Santa area in the malls on several occasions, pointed him out, and that's it. The lines have been really bad every time we went, anyway, and we don't see the sense in waiting since she's probably not going to like it anyway.
Having image issues-- but Santa came to daycare last week. She was curious- Climbed right up and then 'chatted' with him.
Santa is coming to DD2's DC this afternoon - I don't expect much, but I'm still bringing my camera just in case
ETA: Yeaaaaahhhhh that went swimmingly. As soon as I got within 6 feet of the guy, DD started clinging to me like her life depended on it, crying big ugly tears and wailing "MAMAAAAAAAA". Needless to say, she did NOT sit in his lap. lol
This is last years next to this years. I wasn't going to take him this year b/c I didn't want a screaming Santa pic, but we were reading a book about Santa and I asked him if he wanted to "go see Santa?" and he said, "yeah yeah yeah!" So we went, and he was totally fine with it. A little more stoic than he normally is, but he smirked for the camera, didn't cry, seemed curious and interested.
Re: Post your "Santa and Child" pics here!
Ha Ha! Love it.
We never made it onto Santa's lap. DD1 forze, and DD2 had that deer in headlights look on her face as soon as I moved to bring her closer to him.

DD was hugging kids in line and asking their dads for "up" but wanted NO part of Santa. We were shocked by this reaction.
Awww so sweet

Julia was NOT feelin it this year:
