CVS (chorionic villus sampling) in Baltimore

All--your responses have been incredibly helpful so thanks.

Has anyone had experience with the CVS procedure in Baltimore--or gotten feedback on where to go/who has the most experience/best stats etc?  I am scheduled potentially with Khouzami at GBMC pending results of the first trimester screen and ultrasound but I don't know if he would be "the one' compared to so many others in the area.  Thoughts?

Thanks for any input--curious if any of you did CVS or amnio and with whom.

  • Are you planning to do the CVS or amnio because of results you got back?

  • Have you checked out the perinatal center at St. Joe's.  Dr. Rossiter is amazing.  She did my amnio with my first pregnancy and we met with her with my pregnancy with DS as well as this pregnancy.  I know at St. Joes they typically recommend doing the first trimester screening and blood work and depending on the results move on to a CVS.  There is an increased risk of miscarriage with a CVS so they want you to do the least invasive first.
  • We had it dine at GBMC prenatal diagnostics after issues with first trimester screening, and Dr. Blagadow or something like that. She was great, very calming and they had a microscope in the room to confirm they took a sample of the baby's cells and not mine. I was very impressed with GBMC. And everything came back perfectly fine. DD is a beautiful and healthy 2 month old.
