Do you give your LO dips when they eat? As in ketchup, ranch, hummus? If so, how do you give it, just on the tray? Is it crazy messy?
I havent given DS anything like this yet, because he seems content without it. Im wondering if that makes me in the minority?
Re: dips
I think I started giving dips to Aidan around 2.5...I think?
Oh, I forgot to address the mess part of your post. For us, not messy at all. She is a careful dipper, and just loves to suck the sauce off whatever it's on.
It's not the usual thing to give him dips, but sometimes I give it to him as a "treat" since he seems to really enjoy dipping when I do let him.
It's not so messy that I dread doing it, but it does get messy sometimes!
Yes, all the time. If I want him to try something, and he's not sure about it, I just plop some sour cream or ketchup or jelly down on his tray and say "dip dip!" He loves it! He doesn't make as much of a mess as I think other kids might, but he's careful not to get it all over. If it gets on his fingers, he holds his hand up and says "eh eh" until I clean him off.
I'd kind of forgotten about hummus. I need to give that another try now that he's so into dipping. Thanks!
All of this. DS is very dainty with his dipping. Although he will put his fingers in dips and just suck his fingers. Not extra messy though!
