As per the state regulations for our placing agency, our home study agency is to complete our first post-placement visit within 30 days of us coming home. We scheduled it for this morning and our SW didn't show up! We called her after 20 minutes, left a message, and then waited for an hour before calling again. She answered and said her agency was supposed to contact us to cancel.
What a waste of a morning. We have never communicated with our SW through the agency; we always contact her directly and vice-versa. I don't know what to believe.
So now she says she can't meet with us until after the holidays which is not within the 30 day window. We offered tonight, any time tomorrow, and any evening this week but she keeps saying she has another job and she doesn't drive in the dark (it has to be at our place). I mean, I want to be gracious but am I wrong to think this isn't our problem and she should be the one to figure it out, whether that means getting someone to drive her here or taking an afternoon off from her other job? WDYT?

Re: Vent and WDYT?
Just a good thing it isn't one of the Russia post placement reports! But that's why you want to jump on this now to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I know you want to honor your obligations, but your adoption is final, and they have no recourse if you are late on your postplacement reports.
When we first came home with M, they totally forgot to add us to their postplacement calendar, and completely missed our first homevisit. WE had to call them and remind them, and then they just combined the first two visits into one report. Our agency if routinely late on when they send our reports to Peru, and there's nothing we can do about it. We do the visit about 6 weeks in advance, the social worker always submits the report early, and we always send them the necessary pictures early, but the agency takes it's sweet time in getting the reports properly authenticated and sent to Peru. It's a shame, because they just lost their license to process Peruvian adoptions, and this is a big part of why, but we are no way responsible for their lack of interest in maintaining up-to-date reporting.
Yes, her adoption is final but since she has a different placing agency as hs agency, her hs agencies lack of promptness could cause trouble for her placing agency in Russia. It's pretty common for agencies to be place on the black list for one or both parties not complying with post placement requirements. Sure it won't affect her, but it could others.
This is what I was wondering; are we the ones to blame? I didn't think so and sounds like you agree. I love our placing agency so of course I want to make sure they maintain their good status, but I am hoping they can help us by putting some pressure on our home study agency.
The SW called this morning at 8am to see if we could do the visit this afternoon but my husband is a pastor and by the time he finished services it was too late for the SW to make the trip out here and back home again before dark (she doesn't drive in the dark). I'm praying she can meet next Saturday AM. **stressed** Hopefully I'll have a good update in the morning!
