We had my niece and younger nephew overnight last night so that my sister and BIL could do some Christmas shopping. My nephew just turned 2, but he's a very young 2, and a VERY high energy toddler. I keep catching myself going "This is going to be LO in 2 years, what am I getting myself into?"
Tons of fun, tons of frustrations, and I will need tons of coffee to survive 5:30 wake ups, lol!
Re: What on Earth am I getting myself into, lol
The good news is that when they are your own, you are slowly initiated into it. It's still very tiring though at times. Yawn...
So funny to see this post today... Our cousins and their two kiddos, 13 weeks and 30 months were here this weekend and holy cow are we exhausted. The 2 1/2 year old is definitely going through a phase of testing! Two things came to mind. 1. STMs who feel like I do and are constantly chasing a toddler are my heros! 2. The is a reason they come out tiny and cute - that way you don't actually strangle them when they hit the toddler stage! Haha.
Definitley a weekend that made me feel ready to have a tiny one... And considering a family of just one!
I love my crazy toddler, but what on earth am I going to do with a toddler AND a newborn? How am I going to be able to manage two toddlers when Baby Girl gets older?
DS1: Quinn - 10.22.10 and DS2: Cole - 01.18.13
Well, my DD sleept from 7pm-8am last night - so not all toddlers will have a 5:30 wake-up! (So there is some hope out there!)
When a child is your own, you will have much more patience....and you'll even enjoy some of those early mornings and laugh at some of their "tests" as they become a toddler. I find it hard to hold back laughter with my DD as she is learning what is and isn't ok for her to do.
Although my daughter was a very easy-going baby, I am finding this stage much more enjoyable and satisfying as a parent. Her schedule is predictable (especially love having her sleep through the night....so I can, too), her personality is really showing, and because she's learning new things all the time.
