I'm so sorry I haven't been posting since Beckett was born! It is just too difficult emotionally to read all of the posts when all of your babies were safe and happy inside while little Beckett was struggling in his "artificial womb". That being said I have missed you all and am excited for your babies' Birthdays! Congratulations! Beckett has had a tremendously tough journey but I am pleased to say that the end of our NICU stay is nearing! Beckett has no issues common to preemies, has managed to avoid infections, and appears healthy in every way. We are SO blessed and thankful! However, Beckett was receiving respiratory support for a much longer time than anticipated due to my labor being too quick for steroids to mature his lungs. This made his start with oral feedings difficult as he had so many negative associations with anything in or near his mouth. Therefore, feedings are what is currently holding him back. The ONLY thing holding him back!

He has finally learned that feedings are a positive thing and is thankfully a stellar breastfeeder yes, I have been pumping this entire time and am STILL pumping 8x per day: so exhausting. He just lacks endurance and requires tube feeds occasionally. When he grows a little bit more he may have the stamina to take all of his feeds, then we will be heading home! He is currently 5 Ibs exactly, double his birthweight! He has been one month in the "feeder/grower" NICU so far and was 5 weeks in the acute care NICU. We were transferred on my Mom's Birthday! We can hold him anytime we want now and he has received his first bath! We are so ready to take him home! Please send thoughts and prayers for a homecoming before Christmas! Again, congrats Mama's! And sending my wishes for safe and easy deliveries to those of you that haven't had your babies yet!
Re: Update on Beckett
So glad he is doing so well! Ds was born at 3lbs and had a NICU stay as a grower and feeder, so I know what a roller coaster that is. And the joys of pumping so much too. Sounds like you are doing an amazing job and that is just wonderful that he is taking to breastfeeding! Ds never cohld since he would fatigue so much. Looks like you'll be home soon!

Dear Baby Pacheco...
I'm sorry you all had such a rough start, but HOORAY for all his progress! That is wonderful!
And a completely separate and MASSIVE KUDOS to you mama for keeping up with pumping through all this! You are a much tougher lady than I, that's for sure! He's lucky to have such a dedicated mama!
