Convertible carseat opinions

My giant 20lb 6 month old is quickly out growing her bucket carseat...I would love some recommendations on seats you all like. Thanks!
Sweet little girl AMM born 6/13/12 via scheduled csection. Surprised with a pregnancy in September, 2012 which ended in MC in October at 7.5 weeks. Surprised again(!) with another pregnancy in November. Baby due 7/19/13. Depo clearly does not work for us!

Re: Convertible carseat opinions

  • I did a ton of research and agonizing over which convertible carseat to get and we went with the diono radian rxt for my 18lb 6 mo old. We really love it, but more importantly DS loves it which means not so much screaming :) We have the chicco keyfit 30 infant carrier, but he's too long for it.

I was torn between the britax blvd and the radian. Ultimately I chose the radian because it will allow him to rear face longer as it has a few inches height-wise on the britax. The peg perego convertible was in th mix also, but has the same height as the britax. But, I am rear facing DS as long as possible as it is the safest way to travel, if you're only RF till two (recomended) then most carsets will fit the bill.

Good Luck! There is so much info out there. Carseat.org was really helpful to me.

  • Oh that's perfect. My DD is very long alsothanks to my 6 foot 7 inch hubby! Our carseat goes up to 30 pounds also but the length thing is our issue as well. I'll look into that seat! Thanks!!

  • The Graco MySize 70/Size 4 Me 70 is 4" taller in height than the Radian, but it goes to 40lbs rear-facing and not 45lbs. It could be a good choice for you as well.

I'd love to hear opinions too. We have a looong baby as well and are starting to think about the convertible seats. We both have small sedans so we need something that will fit in our cars. Anyone have suggestions for that?

You might post on the fb group Car Seats for the Littles. There are a bunch of techs on there (including myself) that can help you out. I know Britax are often recommended for smaller cars, but that will change if you have a taller child. Possible other suggestions Combi Coccoro and the Diono Radian.
