Babies: 6 - 9 Months

How are handling the Holidays?

We are going to Minnesota to visit my family and are staying at my Dad's house. Christmas eve dinner will be at my Aunt's. I am guessing more than likely after bedtime! Also we usually go to the late church service. I have found out they have a 2 or 3:30 p.m. service which will work better for us.

Farrah is in bed by 7 every night and does not do very well if we keep her out past bedtime. Are you planning on keeping baby's routine the same? I know it's going to be hard because we won't be at home. I get so stressed out when Farrah's schedule gets messed up.

  • I guess I don't really care either way.. she will be fine. We will just do her bed time routine later and she will sleep later in the morning. Get back on track the next day.. I really don't think it's going to be an issue to get worked up about.

  • I'm trying to only have one later evening and intend to leave around bedtime and let him sleep on the way home. I'm kind of dreading it, too because I suspect that he will wake up when we take him out of the carseat (he always does) and, with him, the later he stays up, the earlier he gets up in the morning and he's always grouchy when this happens. If it were just a matter of him sleeping in later in the morning, heck, I'd keep him up every night!

  • we're totally playing the baby card!

LO gets off her schedule so easily, so for us to keep our sanity we will be leaving early, driving separately, etc.

  • I try to keep DD's schedule as consistent as possible but on special occasions I just try to go with the flow and work her into ours.  I figure it is only 1 day and then at worst it will take me a couple days to get her back in her routine.

I know for a fact that I will be waking up DD at midnight to celebrate the New Year's Countdown with us (Mother of the Year over here haha).

  • i don't think there is anything wrong with asking how do they feel about going to the earlier service. not sure what time late service is but i like to keep little man on as much as his schedule as possible. i don't mind going to bed alittle later but he is a baby and likes his sleep and no one likes a fussy baby

  • Honestly, I'm not worried about keeping DD on a schedule.  It's Christmas.  It's one day.  I don't foresee her getting fussy.  She's a party animal and I think she will enjoy the festivities.  The only problem is that she gets so overstimulated and excited that I think it will be super hard for her to get to sleep that night.

  • I'm really not worried about sticking to a schedule.  DD1 stays up crazy late, so we don't need to worry about being up past her bedtime.  DD2 likes to go to bed earlier, but if she gets fussy, I just put her in a carrier and she falls asleep.
