Can anyone give me some input. I have been racking my brain all morning. Rock-n-Play Sleeper or a Pack n Play with a bassinet? I just read about the the sleeper and thought it would be great but i always though the pack and play was good because it could be used to sleep and play in. Price is not really a different almost the same.
Re: Rock and Play Sleeper
The pnp is useful much longer. We still use ours but haven't used the rnp since DS was like 5 mo old
I had a pnp with DS1 and was really happy with it. We used it as a bassinet for the first 3.5 months, and then we kept it at my parents after that, so DS had a place to nap when we visited about once a month. It was also handy when we traveled across country about twice a year.
I looked at the rnp, and all the reviews talking about flat heads turned me off. I also thought it looked really easy to topple over.
I agree that RNP is more for the early months but the ease of moving it around is really really awesome. I loved ours. The flat head thing is for people who left their kid in it for entire days on end. You shouldn't do that period no matter what device they are in. Also, it doesn't topple over easily at all.
The PNP will be more useful long term when they are too big for the RNP. We use our PNP for travel and we definitely needed one because we are on the go a lot.
Pack n plays are flat, not all babies sleep well like that. And they are big, we just don't have room for one. So I got a rock n play.
I also never used the PNP when he got older, other than for overnights at Grandma's. I never had the need to "cage" him or anything. I just made the whole house pretty safe.

The docs in our pediatrics practice are pretty strongly anti-RNP Sleeper for extended sleeping. The surface isn't as firm as recommended & the padding restricts the baby's sleep wiggling. Depending on the style, the padding & extra cushions can position the baby so that his/her airway is restricted.

We got the thumbs up on a firm bassinet mattress or the PnP with bassinet.
EDIT: I swear I told it to hyperlink. Sorry.
I got my Graco pnp with bassinet on sale for under $55, and not on sale you can find them for $70 easy.

The pnp with bassinet, is about as basic as Graco makes the pnp.

I think parents get confused and think the napper is the bassinet, but it's not. The ability to raise the mattress is the bassinet feature on the pnp.

I agree with this, but if he is sleeping for extended periods of time (AKA through the night) he'll be in the crib. The RNP is for that time before that when getting them to nap and sleep for more than an hour at a time is a miracle. With DS, that was for the first 2-3 months LOL I'd also use it for naps only.

seriously? People are dumb. I don't understand how it would cause more flat heads than a bassinet. If people are leaving their kids in either too long it will happen.

They're sleep tools, not babysitters. People use them to watch their kid day in and day out for hours at a time and that's what causes problems with flat heads.
We have an Arm's Reach co-sleeper at our house and the Graco PnP w/ cuddle cove and changing table at my Mom's.
Baby is getting a RnP under the tree from Santa.
