Ok so my little sister (15) just posted on FB that she was excited for "Sarah's baby sower" when I asked who Sarah was she said a friend from her dance team. We start having a conversation about teen pregnancy and my sister said "I know what its like to have a baby, they made us take the dolls home in health class - plus we learned all about morning sickness and its not that bad, you are just a wimp. I know you are all upset and say you are fat and tired, but you are going to loose all the weight as soon as the baby is born, and its your choice not to drink coffee so you are just making it worse on yourself." I decided against slapping her in the face and instead laughed. These girls walk out of health class and think that being pregnant/having a baby is no big deal. And some of them think its going to be fun. My sister referenced the show 16 and pregnant and then it dawned on me - this show is making it look like these girls are able to skip the bad stuff and go straight to playing house with their boyfriends. I think they need to change health class and girl should have to wear weight belts to simulate baby bellys and have some sort of pill that simulates pregnancy symptoms. Maybe if these girls knew that morning sickness does not just happen in the morning, and you do not walk out of the hospital in your skinny jeans and you have to deal with months of heartburn, no sleep and get your period for a month straight after giving birth, they wouldnt think its so easy and we would have a lot less teen pregnancy. (end rant)
BTW- this is no way was ment to offend any of you who are 18/19 years old (I know there are a few of you on this board) I am talking about these girls that are freshmen/sophmores in high school who are in no way ready to be parents.
Re: 16 and pregnant
I agree with you. That is not okay to think. I feel like even I am really young to be pregnant and I am 21 years old!
I completely agree with you. Shows like Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant make me really angry because they either completely glorify what it's like to be young and pregnant or they make it look like the trashiest thing in the world. The little robot baby they give you does not prepare you at all for what's it like to actually be pregnant (believe me, I had to take that stupid thing home myself haha).
I'd just ignore her. She's young and she'll understand one day Some 16 year olds can be good mothers (two of my best friends have mothers who were 15-16 when they were born and they are awesome mamas), but it's seriously hard. You have to have a lot of courage and common sense. I'm 19 and not afraid to admit that it terrifies me!
I do agree that 16 and pregnant could do with showing a LOT more of the unsavory parts of pregnancy. If they slipped a mucus plug in here and there, or a girl waking up with her boobs stuck to her shirt, maybe the number of teenage pregnancies would drop.

My best friend got pregnant when we were 15. My Mom didn't like her from the minute I started hanging out with her. It was a situation where her Mom had no control over her. I was with her through her whole pregnancy. I never left her side, was with her when she went into labor. She's now in Florida and her Mom has custody of her daughter in North Carolina. She's not a bad person, she just made a poor decision, even though she stayed with the baby's father for 5 years afterwards.
I wish it would have been a situation where she struggled like a mother would but her Mom never made her accountable so I never got to see that side of it - except for the long labor and her eventual c-section.
We're still friends and since I've been pregnant she's expressed her regret she couldn't enjoy it the way I have and she doesn't remember things like when the baby kicked for the first time, when she went into labor. What time she was born. Because she said she didn't care and it breaks her heart that her daughter is 10, almost 11, and she doesn't have that mother/daughter bond.
