Did any of you ladies hear about the shooting at the elementary school where 18 kids got killed ? It horrible and I couldn't imgine this happening with my Los. But I just put this out there because it was touching and very hurtful...especially before the holidays!!!
Re: CT shooting
As a teacher in New England, I'm concerned... I can't believe that this keeps happening over and over again. I know people are saying "schools need more security", but I also think that there's no way to avoid these things with "security"... when someone snaps or wants to commit an act of violence, he (she) will find a way.
It's terrifying to think about, but I believe that's the truth. Yes, I think stricter gun control would help and I'm all for it... background checks, not allowing people with a history of mental illness and/or voilence to purchase guns, having the SELLER bear at least partial responsibility for the crime, etc. But will more legislation make our schools (and malls and movie theaters...) 100% safe? No. We've brought our children into a scary and violent world. The only thing we can do is raise kids who will make a difference, I guess.

Dear God, Since I couldn't hold my little one in my lap and tell him about you, could you hold him in your lap and tell him about me?
PgAL and PAL always welcome...This I def.agree with the security.part
I'm heart broken over this. While I do think there should be better security particularly at schools I don't think this is so much about gun control. I think it is about mental illness and the lack of awareness, the lack of access to treatment and the inability of parents to identify/accept if their child has a mental illness and help them get treated early.
absolutely heartbreaking, those poor babies.
everyone snuggle your little one close tonight, we are so lucky to have them.
