When we were pregnant I remember hearing about the Vicks thermometer that was used in the bum, I searched and search found it and never used it! We have always used what the hospital sent us home with...well, it is dead! Time to get a new one!

We have that Vicks one that SweetPea linked, but we haven't used it in months and months. We have this Exergen forehead one now, and it's awesome. DH and I use it too. It's this one:

No, we actually never used the bum one. I just remember all of the hype about the accuracy of the bum ones, hence, the recommendations.

rectal gets the most accurate reading, in anyone (baby or adult) but you can use another method for a toddler. Just don't toss the rectal one, use it as backup (recommended to use if another thermometer reads 99 degrees or higher I think)

Here's my FFFC. I only used the rectal on B when she was an itty bitty baby. When her pedi's office started using the ear or forehead thermometer I switched to the binky thermometer.

We've had this one since my oldest was born. It doesn't work for teeny babies, but beyond that, it's always been great! Love it!

I still use the rectal thermometer. We have the Vick's one that Sweetpea has. It is super easy to use.
I thought you were supposed to use the rectal thermember for babies and toddlers since it was more accurate. I'll probably still use it for a while longer.
