Chronic Soft Stools

Ugh...DS just turned 3 and has had soft stools for about a month.  It's not diarrhea, and he only goes once a day, but it is always soft now and never formed.  His diet has not changed, and he does eat a lot of fruit, but that has always been the case.

He is happy and extremely active.  I have also noticed that he has stinkier breath than usual (kind of like morning breath all day) and has been snoring, so my first thought was possibly a tonsil / adenoid issue?  Could that cause the loose stools?

I will take him to the doctor if this continues, but we are in a big transition moving to another state.  We are currently at my parents' house through the holidays, so we are not close to our current doctor and will not be in our new house until the first of the year.

Re: Chronic Soft Stools

  • We had a similar issue with DD1 last year around this time. Our pedi had her stools checked and she had some parasite (I think it was called Giardia). She took some antibiotics and it seemed to clear it up. Has he been eating anything that he normally doesn't eat? It could be his sinus issues as we notice if DD1 has sinus problems, sometimes she has looser stools. Good luck with going to the doctor.
