What to pay nanny/sitter?

Looking for input on what to pay a potential nanny. She's 25 with quite a bit of experience. 20-25 hrs/ week for 17 month old twins in our house.
We really like her and I don't want to over or under shoot by too much. We have managed to get by with family members watching them until now.
We live in Webster. Thanks!!!

Re: What to pay nanny/sitter?

  • I would hop on care.com and see what other people are paying in the area. I think it also dpeends on what you expect her to do. Will be more of a babysitter or truly a nanny? If you want her to come up with activities, teach the kids things, cook for them, etc then pay her more. If she is just there to feed them already prepared food, clean up after them, and basically supervise their play until you get home you can offer a bit less. I'm guessing something around $15 an hour but I could be off base for your area and needs.

  • When I was actually looking at nannying as a potential job right after school, I was being offered between $13-15/hour, for an infant. I would say for 2, especially with the ages that they are (busy, busy, busy!) shoot for somewhere in that range. Also make sure she's certified in infant/child CPR, first aid, and is registered w/ the MO Family Safety Registry Smile
