My office holiday Party - The unprofessional guy....

So last night was my work party, it was a small group of about 9 people and no spouses. There is this new guy who came to the gathering and he was just so over the top, I couldn't believe his lack of unprofessionalism.

First, his personality is loud and over the top to begin with, everytime someone in the group would be telling a story he would talk over them with his own similar story. Not only did he sit so close to me that I ended up sitting on the corner of the table (with the corner poking into my giant belly) but everytime he talked to me he rubbed my back. He is brand new to the company and to this group of people, the guy couldn't keep his mouth shut. He spent the entire evening sucking up to my boss, praising her amazing job at this amazing company, blah blah blah. He went completely over the dinner budget set by our corporate, that he was well aware of. Spent a good five minutes showing me pictures of men he is dating on his phone and pretended to "steal" one of the manager's bottles of wine gifted to them. And last when I pulled out my company card to pay for the meal he was so excited that I had my own company credit card that he exclaimed "l'm going to come over to your center tomorrow and we are going to head to Ikea and go shopping on the company!" I awkwardly laughed as my boss awkwardly told him this was a bad idea. He was obviously joking but he has no idea the personalities of the people he was joking with... bad idea.

I am still cringing this morning.

Anyone have an individual like this at their company?

    Eewwww! I am really annoyed at him and I don,t even know the guy - I can only imagine how you must feel about him! We have a few creepy dudes in the office (I posted about one of them not long ago) but I haven't had the "pleasure" to deal with anyone like your new co-worker.

    Sort of... not as touchy but definitely just as inappropriate. I wish I could say it wasn't my fault that she works here. It is completely my doing and I have kicked myself dozens of times since. I had no idea that her work ethic and attitude towards work in general sucked so badly. She complains constantly and during the 5 seconds a month that she isn't complaining, she is "honey, sugar, darling"-ing everyone to pieces. We work at a professional office in DC... not the Waffle House. You don't call your co-workers "honey" for the love of Jesus. She rarely wears shoes at her desk because she is "from TN and we don't wear shoes inside." WTF is that??? Rant over...
