Question about "plus 1"

Doc says I am 3cm dilated, 50 % effaced, "Plus one".

 What does it mean to be plus 1? I get the dilated and effaced part, but she said "plus 1" and I have no idea what that refers to. I was so happy to hear that I was making progress and that she "Hopes and expects to see me this weekend" that I didn't clarify....

Ps- That cervical check hurt like a MoFo and I'm spotting pink now.

    Probably that the baby is engaged & at +1 station...pretty low in your pelvis, which is a good thing!

    It's in relation to depth in your pelvis - +1 is nice and engaged. Good job.

    This. It's the "station" of baby's head. Negative numbers mean high up, positive numbers mean low down.
