Missed a call from the VP at school for DD...

apparently tragedy has struck! DD forgot her school ID today. The vice principal left a message on my voicemail telling me this. I want to tell her that DD forgetting her school ID is the least of my worries when it comes to school. With her issues, she's bound to foget something once and a while but this is the first time she has forgotten it all year so was a call really necessary. I have to remind her to take it off in the evenings because she forgets. I want to say that she has an extra day to turn in assignments but you expect her to remember her ID every day without fail.

Really I'm just venting, I know they use the IDs for school lunch, library cards, ect. But they act like my child committed a crime by forgetting it. When DD's older I can be like "I remember the one time you got in trouble at school and I got called by the VP for you forgetting your ID." LOL

  • I think LOL is used way too often, but Auntie's response def. deserves a LCO.

  • I'm going to use Auntie's response for a friend of mine.  She asked me how to respond to the school passive aggressively writing a long note in her communication book about how she needs to practice her spelling more and be more supported at home.  The 13 year old (with DS) needs help remembering things, like to bring said words home.  They had 2 spelling test from September until now as well...they are giving the mom heck about things.

With my one boys, ages 7, we put something in their IEP for a reminder on their desks since they forget their homework folders often.  I always run in to school after hours and get them but they need to remember things as well so this was how we started it.
