We finally made it to MILs after 16+ hours of airports and airplanes. I think I might have slept a half hour, and DS maybe about an hour and a half. So.exhausted. I'm hoping for a quick adjustment to our new time zone. (Any tips?)
Random question - if you've taken a loooong plane trip with LO recently, how have they slept on the plane? DS just did not want to sleep, despite flying during his normal sleeping time. He also would NOT sleep in my lap - he had his own seat, but we didn't take his carseat on a couple of the flights (because it's a hassle to get it on the plane). He was sooo tired, and apparently I'm just not comfortable. Even on the longest flight when we had his seat, he only slept about an hour.
And of course DS fell asleep as soon as we stepped off of our last plane.
And just a mini-rant/semi-warning - United has gone waaaay down in quality since the last time I flew with them. They just completed their merge with Continental, so maybe they are still working out the kinks. 1) Their pet shipping division lost my cat last week (and added 12 hours to his travel day) 2) They couldn't manage to get us checked in to our final destination because of the way our flights were booked. I KNOW they should have been able to do that, but instead we spent an hour at LAX picking up our bags (we had a loooot of stuff since we're moving), checking in for our second two flights, and going through security so we could leave from the same gate we arrived in. Luckily we had 4 hours there. And I also ended up with a TSA agent who clearly didn't know the rules about extra liquids allowed for small children.
I promise I'll stop being a PW about my travel/moving now!
I'll also add that it feels really weird to be in the same time zone as some of you now (central). I'm so used to being hours behind...
Re: Travel = exhausting
He's never had issues with his ears before, and we've flown quite a few times. He sleeps on his stomach, so I think he just couldn't get comfy, plus there was a lot to distract him.
Duckie, good luck with your trip! Make sure YOU are well rested before you go my patience was running short towards the end because I was so tired. Also, make sure to double check when you can preboard with LO. On two flights, they didn't announce preboarding for families.
Thanks for the tips! I'll check into it!
