Appointment today showed that our little guy is still head up (and seems to be quite happy that way). My ultrasound last week showed a small fibroid that will make it difficult for him to turn, and even if he does, they're concerned that the location will result in an unsuccessful labor and c-section anyway. I'll probably keep going to my chiropractor for Webster technique (especially because it's kept me feeling good so far) but I'm not getting my hopes up anymore.
Looks like we'll be going in for a c-section on December 26th. I have mixed feelings, but in the end, just want what's best for baby and me.
Anyone have any c-section advice to offer? I've been so focused on packing my bag with L&D in mind, it's weird to switch my mindset now.
Re: Looks like my NY baby will be a Christmas baby
Going in for an induction, I knew I could have a c-section if it didn't work. I was VERY nervous about it b/c I have had an infection in the past and am scared to have any type of surgery at all. In the end, I had to do a c-section and the worst part was the following 2 days where I was on mag and morphine and totally out of it and could not walk. However, I am not a week and a half out and have little to no pain and am able to drive and yesterday I was able to start picking up the car seat and have had no issues. It's not that bad and the pain meds take all the pain away as long as you take them on time but it's not that bad if you take it easy for the first week or so.
GL! In the end- the cute baby will make you forget about how they arrived!
'I loved you for a thousand years and I will love you for a thousand more'
I would like to echo the sentiment about getting up and walking as much as you can. It seems like a bad idea, but it does help heal things that much quicker. I'd also say, take the meds! Don't try to be a hero! Also, it can be really painful to pass gas/have a bowel movement. Perhaps have some prune juice or the like to help things along.
Good luck!
My CS was after 18 hours of labor, so I went in to the surgery very unprepared. This time, I will have a RCS if she doesn't come by December 28th. I would love to do a VBAC, but I don't want to go past the 28th because I have gestational diabetes and I don't want to chance complications with her growing too big.
I think the recovery will be easier if you go in the surgery without prior laboring. The recovery is painful, but well worth it once you look at that baby. The first time you go to cough or sneeze, make sure you have a pillow pressed against your stomach. And if you notice having a headache that refuses to go away hours after your surgery, make sure you let your nurse know-it's probably a spinal headache and they'll be able to fix it immediately with an epidural. I don't say this to alarm you-I don't hear of it happening often. But if you notice a headache, don't just assume it'll go away. This happened to my SIL and she had to go back to the hospital days after being released because she never said anything about her headache. I told my nurse after several hours and she had the anestesiologist in there immediately. I was a bit reluctant when he told me the headache would subside before he was done with the procedure, but it really was instant.
Take all the help you can get once you go home because you will need the time to heal and recover. Ultimately, whatever is best for the baby is what is important. You really will forget the pain within weeks of having your CS and it will become a distant blur rather quickly.
GL to you and your family. I hope you have a great experience, regardless of how you end up giving birth.
