I have decided to stop BF and go straight to FF.
The Dr says I need to bind my breasts tight and take pain killers for 2-3 days.
Exactly how do I bind my breasts? Has anybody had to do this before?
I know that probably sounds like a silly question, but i'm not sure if I just wear a tight bra or if I actually need to wrap them.

Re: Breast binding
That is TERRIBLE advice from you doctor, you are bound to get engorged, be in terrible pain and possibly get an infection from it.
It is recommended to stop slowly. Replace a feeding with a formula bottle. One feeding every day or two is probably best. Do not express milk or run your breasts under hot water in the shower, that will just encourage more milk production.
If you are just completely done with BF'ing and you have a pump, you can use the pump to make the transition easier. When I stopped DS1 at 3 months, I started with 4 pumps a day and then over about 10 days I just kept lessening the amount I pumped. I had to pump and dump b/c DS1 was sensitive to dairy, but you could continue to use that milk for LO until you are empty.
I thought it was pretty bad advice too and I am in so much pain right now.
I am going to try what you girls suggested!
thanks!
I was told to to wear a tight bra and use cabbage leaves. It is not bad advice. People should follow what their doctors say, not what people online say!
drs receive minimal training on breastfeeding and nutrition so I have to disagree with you here.
