Toddlers: 24 Months+

More than once....

Now that my 2 1/2 year old is almost potty trained, when we go into a store, she says to me that she has to go potty more than 1 time, the other night I took her into the Culver's bathroom twice, the 2nd time she barely went.  Then she said a 3rd time she had to go.  The third time my husband and I said we'll wait until we get home, she had a fit.  I think she keeps doing it because she thinks it is exciting.  Anyone experience this?

Re: More than once....

  • my daughter does this all the time! As annoying as it is, I figure it's better for her to try to go to often then not not tell me. And I try to make bathroom trips as quick and to the point as possible, not letting her dawdle in the bathroom or play with things, making a bog deal about having to stop whatever we're doing to go.

    HTH!

  • DD2 loves checking out bathrooms.  Whenever we get near the bathroom in a store she has been in before, she will announce that she has to pee.  Sometimes I take her, sometimes I calculate how much she has been drinking and when she last peed and tell her she can wait.  She generally only throws a fit if she really has to go.  The good news is, the novelty of bathroom trips will wear off soon and as long as you potty before you get to the store, you should be able to shop in peace (well as peaceful as shopping with a toddler can be).
