Tablet recommendations?

We purchased 3 Leap Pad 2's for our boys for Christmas.  We're considering returning them and buying tablets instead.  I'd like to spend closer to $100 each.  I'm not looking for anything great, just something they can play games on.

Re: Tablet recommendations?

  • We got our 5 and almost 4 year olds kindle fires instead of leap pads.  We got used ones from my sister, but would have got the new ones.  IWeb thought that they would grow with them and the apps are cheaper than leap pads apps and games, if not free

  • My mom got DS a leap pad 2, and I have a kindle. Had we purchased the table for DS, I would have spent more on the actual device and gone with the Kindle, as, overall, you'll save money on the apps and accessories Leappad runs on batteries, and the games are running $10 to $20 a piece, as opposed to the free or minimally priced apps on the Kindle.
  • Nabi.

    Google it.

I was actually considering that one and ordered it last night from WM.  It was the same price at other stores, but WM had the best priced replacement plan (and yeah, with 2 3 year olds and 1 5 year old, I can totally see them getting damaged).

  • We just got the Nabi 2 when it was on sale at Best Buy. We love their drop tests they did and our older daughter plays fairly well with the tablet we already have. I love how much more child proof this one can be and how you can set up different options and things that they ahve to do in order to unlock other apps.

  • My Mom got my DS and my niece each a Kindle Fire.  We got it on black friday for $160.00, with a $25 visa gift card.  She wanted to get them a Leap Frog one, but I told her that for the price, it was probably better to get a tablet instead.
