Parenting after a Loss

Worried

Throughout this entire pregnancy I haven't gained weight.  At the last appointment they said my stomach measured on, and I've had to wear my bigger or maternity pants....but I just don't think that is normal.  I don't know anyone who has gotten to this point wo any weight gain.  I weigh less now than when I got my BFP for Landon (I gained 15lbs in 3 months after the ectopic)-so this seems crazy.  I've been eating a lot too.  Should I be worried?

Re: Worried

  • I didn't gain any weight until 24 weeks or so, but then it was only maybe 4 lbs. Everything redistributed instead of gaining. In the last 8 weeks I packed on 20 lbs... sometimes it just takes a while. I wouldn't worry. Esp if the doctors office says everything is measuring on.

  • I am a dirty lurker, but thought I would post.  I lost 7 lbs in the 1st tri, and had only just put that weight back on by 20 weeks.  My weight also seemed to just redistribute, the most I ever measured behind was 1 week.  If the doctors aren't worried, I wouldn't worry either.  Just make sure you are continuing to eat.

    THIS.

I lost eight pounds during my first trimester (but had horrible bloat because of my dehydration from vomiting), so I looked like four months pregnant right away ;P

I maybe gained like five pounds back by five months - then I gained ten pounds in one week, as soon as the nausea finally ended.  Then I gained like fifty pounds total by the end of my pregnancy (though half was horrible edema - blargh.)

So yeah, every woman is different during pregnancy, and so long the doctors aren't concerned, I wouldn't worry too much.  Though of course, if you need to, call the office back for some reassurance from a nurse's desk - that's what they are there for, to help us PGAL's feel better (or at least a little less worried) ;D

  • I know it's hard not to worry - but try not to worry about this. Everyone is different. With both successful pregnancies I didn't gain an ounce until 20 weeks, then gained steadily until I reached 19 lbs when I promptly went into labor.

As long as they're not worried about fundal height, and you're eating, I'd say you're both just fine.

  • I actually lost 15 lbs over 1st and 2nd tri, and I didn't throw up once. Then I started gaining quickly during 3rd tri. Like the other ladies said, just make sure you're eating!

  • I didn't gain weight until almost 5 months, and it was only 3 lbs. Everything looked fine though. It caught up to me towards the end though. If you're doc isn't worried, then don't be! As long as you're healthy and baby is growing well.

  • You have to remember too that you are probably eating better and drinking a lot of water since you are pregnant.  Just tweaking some eating habits may have curbed your weight gain.  I know i stopped with the sodas and drank a TON of water.  I didn't gain until late 2nd tri and that was being on a strict GD diet!

  • I didn't really gain much weight until I was six months. I think I gained about 8 pounds up until that point. If baby is measuring on, I think you should be just fine.
